How nutrition scoring works
What your nutrition score reflects and how to improve it.
Your nutrition score summarizes how a product’s formulation stacks up on the nutrients that matter for your market. It updates automatically as you change your recipe.
What goes into the score
- Positive nutrients like protein and fiber that raise the score.
- Nutrients to limit, like added sugar, sodium, and saturated fat.
- Serving size, which affects the per-serving numbers on your label.
Improving your score
Open the product and adjust the formulation. Reducing an ingredient high in sugar or sodium, or increasing a source of protein or fiber, will move the score. Because everything recalculates instantly, you can experiment freely.
Note
If a nutrient value is missing for an ingredient, we show “Not scored” rather than assuming zero — so your score is never falsely inflated.
